When AGNI get vitiated by DOSHAS like vata,pitta and kapha and due to that the function of AGNI get reduced and it cannot digest food properly. This undigested, unmetabolized food is called as ‘’AMA’’ or ‘’AMAVISHA’’ ( due to fermantation and putrefaction of this undigested food material its also called as toxins) which cannot be utilized by body.
During digestion of food very small amount of AMA production is normal and it can be excreated along with stool. But when it’s not regularly cleared and eliminated, then deposition of AMA become problamatic.
According to ayurveda AMA is said to be the root cause of all the diseases, one of many synonyms of DISEASE is AMAYA ,which means ‘ that is born out of AMA’.
This can be correlate with virtues of the AMA and AGNI ,stongly opposite fro each other e.g
|‘’AGNI’’ VIRTUES||‘’AMA ‘’VIRTUES|
|DRY||OILY,VISCOUS AND WET|
The accumulation of AMA leads to body channels blockages and it creates lowering the blood , nutrition flow to the each and every cells of the body, due to that organ functions alters and slow down
When AMA find it’s way into the deeper tissues, it coats and clogs individual cell membranes – inhibiting the cellular communication and weakening the immune response.this leads to autoimmune disorders also.
Due to above mentioned qualities of AMA one can observe his/her stool to diagnose whether one is in the state of AMA or his or her body is free from AMA
With AMA state in body----- stool sinks in water, with foul smell and can stick to surface of toilet after flushing huge amount of water
Without AMA state in body ----stool float in water , without any foul smell and can easily flush with water.
